Croonify is a web service that uses AI to remove vocals and synchronize lyrics with any song recording. Effectively, it is the karaoke lover's dream tool (and I am most certainly a karaoke lover).
The user only needs to provide the audio file, title, artist, and lyrics for the song, and Croonify does the rest. It outputs a video file with the altered audio and lyrics on screen just like the bespoke karaoke tracks we're all familiar with
While Croonify's synchronization algorithm is highly accurate, it does depend on the provided lyrics, and so Croonify allows for lyric changes to be made after the video is generated. After the initial video, up to 2 regenerations are granted
A wide array of common audio and video formats are supported. A 640x480 mp4 video file with limited non-text graphics is outputted. This format was chosen for its small file size
Croonify accepts most common formats of audio and video files. For video files, the audio is pulled and the video is disregarded. Croonify accepts uncompressed audio files, but the service is limited to 6 minute songs
Accurate lyrics are required for synchronization. Croonify's algorithm will attempt to synchronize every word, so annotations should be removed beforehand. At the same time, Croonify's algorithm may mistakenly synchronize some vocalizations that are not included in standard lyrics. Adding those vocalizations to the lyrics will help improve accuracy. Limited regeneration of the video file is granted for such fine tuning
Croonify's algorithm removes all vocals, including duet and backup vocals. This is a limitation that cannot be surmounted at this time. Do please keep this in mind while choosing songs. All acapella songs are probably unsuitable for Croonify, unfortunately
While Croonify is tested only on English language lyrics, the phonetic detection algorithm used in lyric synchronization does still apply to other English alphabet languages to some degree. That said, there is no guarantee for non-English languages
High quality audio is recommended. Most music is produced in a way that accounts for the listener. That means that there's often a foreground element that is the focus of attention. During the intro and between lines or even words, the instrumental is in the foreground. During singing, the instrumental is "ducked" to allow the voice to be in the foreground, and it happens so fast, we don't even notice it. Audio compression formats further take advantage of this by altering or completely removing information that is covered up by the foreground sound
When the foreground is removed, like Croonify does with vocals, the background "ducking" and compression artifacts become more noticeable. The background "ducking" is built into the song by the producers, but the file compression just depends on where the song comes from. So the higher the audio bitrate, the better the resulting video. Most commercially available song files provide adequate quality. And also remember there will be vocals. Just you'll be the one who's singing
If your submission did not process correctly please make sure the following criteria have been addressed
Croonify uses the recorded vocals to synchronize your lyrics to the song. If there is no singing in the song file, Croonify does not know where the lyrics go
Croonify detects key syllable sounds and maps them to your lyrics. Even when one word is not detected, the words around it help synchronize it properly
Some lyrics providers only include the refrain once even though it appears many times through the song - Every word needs to be in the lyrics every time it is sung
Some lyrics providers insert ads or other extraneous content in the middle of their lyrics - Make sure to remove the extra words so that only the lyrics you want on screen are left
Other karaoke maker programs use this information but Croonify does not
Croonify uses generic transliteration to the Universal Phonetic Alphabet for synchronization. This works great for a large number of languages. If you find that your language is not working well with Croonify, please let me know and I'll work to add support for it

Croonify is built to be a simple service for accepting an input file and generating the product file from it. There is no sign up, no account, no subscription, and no commitment of any kind to the service. In spite of that, there are still pieces of information that we handle that are integral to the purchasing process. Described below are how these are handled
Cookies are data strings that web pages ask your browser to store. Croonify uses an identifier cookie to keep track of the current user in the Submission, Preview, and Purchase processes. It is not configured to be accessible outside of the croonify.com domain name
IP addresses are tracked by Croonify to prevent abuse of the free previews provided by Croonify. One free preview is granted per IP address per 5 minutes. Users are allowed to have multiple songs processed simultaneously as long as they are purchased before submitting the next one. Croonify also reserves the right to block any IP address for any reason
Croonify uses a platform provided by "Stripe, Inc" for Point-of-Sale resolution. As part of the purchase receipt provided to Croonify, the purchaser's name, address, and email address are made available to Croonify. The only information Croonify stores from this receipt is the receipt ID and email address. Purchases made through Stripe must agree to their terms and conditions independently of Croonify. New Endian LLC and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, attorneys, employees, partners, licensors and other representatives cannot be held responsible for Stripe's services
Email addresses are stored by Croonify as a record of purchases made. We do not sell or provide email addresses or purchase information to any third party. Requests to delete email addresses and receipt information from Croonify databases may be made to support@croonify.com
Audio data uploaded to Croonify is stored for one month to allow for subsequent regeneration of the video after changes to the lyrics are made. Audio data uploaded for free preview is stored for less than one day. Deletion of these and data generated by Croonify benefits us by saving space

By using the Service, provided by New Endian LLC you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service ("TOS"). The TOS may be updated by us from time to time without notice. In consideration of your use of the Service, you represent and warrant that (i) you are of legal age to form a binding contract and are not a person barred from receiving services under the laws of any applicable jurisdiction and (ii) your use of the Service does not violate any applicable law or regulation. Registration Data and certain other information about you is subject to our Privacy Policy which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety. You understand that through your use of the Service you consent to the collection and use (as set out in the Privacy Policy) of this information. You are solely responsible for the usage and distribution of uploaded audio files and “end-result” video files. The Service is a set of algorithms that removes vocals from the supplied audio and synchronizes lyrics in a generated video. The Service doesn't store or distribute any copyrighted content
Recognizing the global nature of the Internet, you agree to comply with any and all applicable local, state, national or international laws and regulations regarding online conduct, acceptable Content and use of the Service.
You agree to indemnify and hold New Endian LLC and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, attorneys, employees, partners, licensors and other representatives harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of, or in connection with, (i) Content you submit, post, transmit or otherwise make available through the Service, (ii) your use or access of the Service, (iii) your connection to the Service, (iv) your violation of the TOS, (v) your violation of any rights of another, and (vi) any taxes arising in connection with your purchase or use of the Service in any jurisdiction, domestic or otherwise, including, without limitation, sales and use tax.
New Endian LLC reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice. You agree that New Endian LLC shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.
You expressly understand and agree that your use of the service is at your sole risk. The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. New Endian LLC and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents, attorneys, partners, licensors and other representatives expressly disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. New Endian LLC and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents, attorneys, partners, licensors and other representatives make no warranty that: (i) the service will meet your requirements; (ii) the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free; (iii) the results that may be obtained from the use of the service will be accurate or reliable; (iv) the quality of any products, services, information or other material purchased or obtained by you through the service will meet your expectations; and (v) any errors in the software will be corrected. Any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the service is accessed at your own discretion and risk, and you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer system or loss of data that results from the download of any such material. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from New Endian LLC or through or from the service shall create any warranty not expressly stated in the TOS.
New Endian LLC provides no guarantee of refund. Requests may be made to support@croonify.com and are subject solely to our discretion. Refund decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and none such decision provides any guarantee of future refund decisions
You expressly understand and agree that New Endian LLC and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents, attorneys, partners, licensors and other representatives shall not be liable to you for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including, but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses (even if New Endian LLC has been advised of the possibility of such damages), resulting from: (i) the use or the inability to use the service; (ii) the cost of procurement of substitute goods and services resulting from any goods, data, information or services purchased or obtained or messages received or transactions entered into through or from the service; (iii) unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data; (iv) statements or conduct of any third party on the service; or (v) any other matter relating to the service.
The TOS constitute the entire agreement between you and New Endian LLC and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements between you and New Endian LLC with respect to the Service. You also may be subject to additional terms and conditions that may apply when you use or purchase certain other New Endian LLC services, affiliate services, third-party content or third-party software.
New Endian LLC may provide you with notices, including those regarding modifications to the TOS (including the Privacy Policy), by email or via the web-site. You agree to review the TOS (including the Privacy Policy) periodically so that you are aware of any modifications. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the modified TOS (and all other agreements, policies, rules and guidelines referred to herein). Unless expressly stated otherwise by New Endian LLC, any new features, new services, enhancements or modifications to the Service implemented after your initial access to the Service shall be subject to these TOS. The failure of New Endian LLC to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the TOS shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. If any provision of the TOS is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavor to give effect to the parties intentions as reflected in the provision, and the other provisions of the TOS shall remain in full force and effect.
You agree that regardless of any statute or law to the contrary, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to use of the Service or the TOS must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose or be forever barred. The section titles in the TOS are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.
